Dale A. Hayes Jr., Esq.

Dale is a second generation Las Vegan and his son Tripp is a third generation. Dale graduated from Durango High School and received a golf/athletic scholarship from Point Loma College. Dale started as a true freshman and played in several collegiate tournaments. In 2001, Dale graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. In 2004, he received his Juris Doctor Degree, graduating in the top third of his class from the William S. Boyd School of Law. While at Boyd, Dale defended juveniles accused of crimes as a student attorney of the Thomas & Mack Legal Clinic. Dale was involved in various criminal defenses ranging from drug possession to grand theft. Dale previously served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Stewart L. Bell. Dale spent his first five+ years in practice at one of Nevada’s most prestigious law firms. It was there that he began his DUI defense work. In the winter of 2009, Dale decided to focus his practice on criminal defense and created DUI Lawyers of Las Vegas.

Dale has traveled all over North America attending DUI training and educational courses. Dale is well versed on the administration, observation and scoring of the three standardized field sobriety tests developed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”) and adopted by the International Association of Chiefs of Police. These three standardized field sobriety tests, the “Walk and Turn,” the “One Leg Stand” and the “Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus,” are frequently utilized by southern Nevada law enforcement agencies during their pre-arrest DUI screening investigations. Dale is also educated and familiar with NHTSA’s 12 step protocol for the detection of drugs in DUI cases (DRE protocol). Additionally, Dale has received extensive training on the operation, calibration and underlying science of the Intoxilyzer 5000, 5000EN and 8000 evidentiary breath testing devices. Nevada uses the 8000 model to determine blood alcohol concentrations. Dale has also personally worked with and been trained on the operation of various preliminary breath testing devices including the Intoxilyzer 400 and the Intoxilyzer S-D2. Dale is a member of the Nevada Bar Association, Clark County Bar Association, the Nevada Attorneys for Criminal Justice, the Criminal Defense Trial Lawyers Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Nevada Justice Association and the National College of DUI Defense.

In his personal life, Dale enjoys spending time with his friends and family. Dale is an avid golfer, a little league coach and also enjoys traveling. Most of all, Dale enjoys being around the pride and joy of his life, his eleven year old son Tripp Ryan Hayes.
